Sam Whitmore's Media Survey
Media Survey is a web-based business that rates publications into a number of criteria. The objective was to organize the criteria into groups or indexes, design a flexible database structure that would accommodate a high level of data customization and develop an interface in which this information could be delivered in a clear way. Another objective was to design an interface through which an endless amount of interviews could be sorted efficiently. It became apparent that we needed to build an open-ended structure to accommodate for growth, especially since this was a startup business. Therefore we recommended to Sam Whitmore to look a year down the road and project new categories. Each new category would be added into the site as needed.
In order for Media Survey to easily maintain its information, we developed an interface to manage their own data we refer to as an "internal site", an area not visible to a user. This "internal site" allows Media Survey to enter information to the database, edit records, make new criteria, new indexes, and add/remove users from the site.
